November 3rd 2015: Norfolk: Sandringham

Monty the Motorhome is comfortably parked up at the Caravan Club site in the grounds of the royal palace of Sandringham, Norfolk. The place is extremely quiet, with only a few motorhomes and caravans on quite a large site.

We set off late from home today, after waiting for the fog to clear. Most of England has been blanketed in the stuff for the last few days, causing the inevitable traffic chaos. However the forecast is improving from today, so we’re keeping everything crossed and hoping.

After getting set up on site we walked through the woods to Sandringham itself, remembering a previous visit here many years ago, with children and a caravan. Then we visited the palace and gardens, but today it was late afternoon by the time we got as far as the visitor centre, and starting to get dark. So we turned back and had an atmospheric walk back through dark, damp and misty woods.

This is the start of a mini break to the North Norfolk coast. No itinerary, and just some vague ideas of where we’ll go. Nothing sorted for tomorrow yet, that needs considering later tonight after our chicken supper.
