Last day: Chertsey June 2014

Monty the Motorhome is feeling refreshed after a rain deluge has washed all the London dust off his bodywork.

This is the last day at Chertsey C & C club site. Not a lot of news today as it was domestic related chores at James’ place.
It was a bit of a jaunt to get there by public transport. The quickest route (according to the Transport for London website) was by train: Chertsey to Weybridge, Weybridge to Wimbledon, Wimbledon to Tooting. Total travel time - just over the hour. Add on 25 mins from the campsite to Chertsey station and a further 20 minutes from Tooting station to James’ digs - so it was almost two hours. However it was interesting to watch the world go by - I do like peering into the backs of gardens from the train.
Unfortunately Chertsey is outside the Oyster card zone, so normal train fares applied.

Met up with James for tea and we has a tremendous meal at The Antelope pub in Tooting. This is a roomy old fashioned drinking establishment that now has a reputation for good pub grub, that is just a bit special. Ruth and I had Merguez spiced hamburgers (Merguez being a spicy sausage meat), on a brioche bun, with patatas bravas (spicy tomato and potato) and coleslaw. James went for the seared tuna with green beans, shallots and jersey potatoes. We shared some spicy buttered cabbage. For pud Ruth had Eton Mess while I had a meltingly delicious chocolate and blood orange cheesecake. James bucked the trend and instead of pud went for a starter - picked mackerel with kohl rabi and fennel. The whole lot was delicious and really reasonable prices - check the link and go if you're in Tooting (unlikely I know, but it may happen).
To cap it off the place also does a line of real ales, so I had some ‘Doc’ Pale Ale - made with four types of New Zealand hops - really tasty.

Then it was time to say goodbye to James again. Not sure when we’ll meet up again.
Ruth and I had a wet journey back, especially the walk back to the site - didn’t do her blisters any good.

Back home tomorrow - will not do a posting for that unless anything special happens.
