Return to Chertsey - June 2014

Monty the Motorhome is just a stone's throw from the River Thames, at the Chertsey Camping & Caravanning Club site, having braved torrential downpours on the M40 this morning.

The weather improved just after midday, as we arrived at the site, which was useful as we had booked a grass pitch. In fact the weather improved dramatically and within 30 minutes we were slapping on the suncream.

We’ve been to this site before, but that was years ago with a caravan and two young children in tow. We spent every day travelling into London to see the sights and saw nothing of Chertsey itself. So today we made amends and did a town walk from a route downloaded from the internet. This took us into the town centre, then out into the countryside (and muddy paths), over and under the M25, then back into the town again. The walk finished at Chertsey bridge which is just adjacent to the site

James came over at the end of the afternoon and we had a remoska meal - minced beef risotta, with healthy salad, then raspberries and unhealthy cream. He is staying tonight, so for the first time we will sleep three in the van. Not sure how that is going to work out!
